How to fix wrong AI answers about your product

By the Why Won't AI team · Published · Last updated

As of November 2026, you cannot edit an AI answer directly. You change the pages it draws on. Find the wrong claim, find the page it came from, correct your own pages first, then ask the owners of other pages to update theirs. Then ask the same questions again on a schedule.

Find the wrong claims

Ask questions that name your product, such as what it costs, what it does, who it is for and what it works with. Split each answer into single claims and mark each one correct, wrong, old or not checked.

Find where each claim came from

  • A cited link in the answer.
  • An old page on your own site that is still live, such as an old pricing page or launch post.
  • A directory, review site or partner page with old details.
  • A page that crawlers cannot read, so the answer filled the gap from somewhere else.

Fix your own pages first

  • Keep one current page for each important fact, such as pricing or features, and show the date you last checked it.
  • Remove old pages or redirect them to the current page.
  • Make sure crawlers can read the page without running JavaScript.
  • Keep any structured data the same as the text people see on the page.

Ask others to correct their pages

Send the owner the exact sentence that is wrong, the correct sentence and a link to your source. Directories and review sites usually have an edit form or a support address. Keep a list of what you asked for and when.

Use the feedback buttons, but do not rely on them

Most assistants let you rate an answer. That can help, but it does not change the pages the answer draws on, so the same mistake can come back.

Check again

Ask the same questions every week and record the claims each time. A fix is done when the correct claim shows up across assistants, not after one good answer.

Questions people ask

Can I ask an AI company to correct an answer?

You can use the feedback buttons. The lasting fix is to correct the pages the answers draw on.

How long does a correction take to show up?

It depends on when each assistant reads the changed pages again. Check weekly.

Should I delete old pages?

Redirect them to the current page where you can, so the old address and its links point to the right facts.

What this does not tell you

Which wrong claims cost you the most, which sources the assistants trust most in your category, and how fast each assistant picks up a change.
