Is your Base44 site visible to AI crawlers?

Published · Last updated

As of November 2026, usually yes, if your site runs on a custom domain. Base44 apps are built in the browser, but Base44's SEO documentation says it serves search engines and AI crawlers a saved, rendered copy of each page, with your real content in the HTML. The gaps are in when that copy is made and which pages get one.

When a crawler gets only a summary

  • A new page: the first crawler can get a short summary with the page heading, its description and links to your other pages. Base44 makes the full copy for a later visit.
  • After you publish: the saved copies are marked out of date, but the next crawler can still get the old copy.
  • Pages that show data: if the records are not public, crawlers get a general summary in place of the real content.
  • Pages that need a login are not indexed.

What can stop the copies from refreshing

  • A proxy or another server in front of your domain. Base44 says publishing then does not refresh the copies that crawlers get, and asks you to set its DNS records to DNS only if your DNS host can proxy traffic.
  • A free Base44 address. Base44 says its SEO setup is designed for apps on a custom domain.

What Base44 does not do for you

  • A meta description for each page. Base44 does not set one by default.
  • Most structured data. Base44 adds breadcrumb data to every page; other types need its SEO scan or your own markup.
  • Links from other sites, reviews and press. These come from outside Base44.

Why View Source can mislead you

View Source shows the page your browser gets, not the copy that crawlers get. On Base44 it can look empty while crawlers get a full page, or look fine while a crawler still gets an old copy. To know what a crawler gets, request the page as that crawler.

What this does not tell you

Which of your pages each AI crawler gets as a full copy today, which get only the summary, and what to change first on your site.
